One thing that stood out to me was how when they author was talking about “Criminalization of the Working Poor” the only evidence he provided was mothers having their children involved in a crime, and I would think that would be there to help convince you as reader to buy into his biased opinion, even with his vague description of what the scenario was. Another thing that popped out at me was how he basically called Americans stupid, for following the government “blindly” when we have a choice to live here and if we didn’t like the way that things are run, than we can just leave. It’s not a hard problem to fix. Honestly it’s not.
The author wrote. “As author Erich Fromm warned in his book Civil Disobedience, "At this point in history, the capacity to doubt, to criticize and to disobey may be all that stands between a future for mankind and the end of civilization." (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-w-whitehead/the-tyranny-of-the-nanny-_b_5669433.html) ” and I find the fact that he is trying to tie in civil disobedience which was a genius idea, and I applaud him on his success of using the term right. But I feel as if he never gave us enough evidence to want to be civil disobedient. He never fully explained his opinions and just linked sources through his article, making it hard to highlight without clicking in a site and being redirected.
I feel as if based off of this article I would say that the government has not over reached, I feel as if they have tried their best that they could with as many differentiating opinions representing each other and lying to get what they want. The founding fathers made the constitution to be amended, so if you feel so passionate about your opinion Mr. John M, Whitehead, than please feel free to run for President, Senate, or even Congress and convince everyone why your opinion should matter and what you should do to change it, and successfully pass it. I DARE YOU. I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU. Cross that, I QUADRUPLE DOG DARE YOU. And then email me and tell me how it went. :)
As for the Federalism Debate I would say that I support Federalism. I understand that there are a lot of people to convince and they argue a lot because of their opinions aren’t being taken into consideration, and that is why they make slow progress, but they seem to have made positive growth instead of negative growth, which is great!
