Brave New World Art Project
Reflection
1. Why did you choose the medium you did?
For this project I chose to have a canvas, and I put streaks on the canvas to give it this water effect. I also got a Styrofoam ball and cut that in half so that I could glue it onto my canvas and I painted one to represent the sun and the other half was for the moon. I had a glass bowl to represent a bowl of water and and in that bowl I put ashes to show how it was all a lie.
2. How were you able to get your idea across using the basics (art elements and principles)?
I was able to use color and line to get most of the effects that I had wanted by using the colors to give a mood to the art piece and the line is the dramatic brush stokes on the canvas. But I also used shading and that really helped me with the words "Requiescant In Pace" by having them look a little bit more 'haunting'.
3. If you were to do it all over again, would you do it the same way or what specifically would you change about your process on this project?
I would find another way to glue on the sun and the moon because the hot glue looked sloppy, and like a science project. I believe that I should have gotten a better glue and than my sun and moon would look a lot more proffessional.

The words "Requiescant In Pace'" is Latin for 'Rest In Peace' since it plays a part in my short story, I decided to put it on the canvas. The red, yellow and orange circle represents the sun and the purple and silver circle is the moon. They are substitutes for 'God' and 'Jesus', in my short story. The bowl is filled with ashes to represent water and how it is lying to everyone.

Prehistoric Egyptian Art Brochure
This project was based on our lecture about prehistoric Egyptian art. I chose to do my brochure on the 'Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut'. I did my brochure on this monument because it was really extravagant a the time and the story that goes with it. We did this project from scratch on Adobe Design, and it was fun to be able to make it how you liked it.
Prehistoric Caveman Drawing With Different Traces
This project was on how we could draw Neolithic, Mesolithic, and Paleolithic animals. I chose to draw an elephant, we were also working on how to make things more realistic other than plain. When were finished drawing and shading we were able to scan the ad then put them into Adobe Illustrator.
Stop Motion Animation
This project was a stop motion animation that we made in Adobe Flash. This project was extremely stressful, because Adobe Flash is a very difficult program that i hard to learn and get the hang of unlike Adobe Photoshop. This stop motion animation is a story of a gay couple and how that no matter what people tell them they will always love each other.
Lighting and Depth of Field Study
This was a project that we did in order to prepare for our upcoming project, these pictures shows hard light with out a reflector, wide depth of field, and shallow depth of field.
Lighting
Photographers use several different types of lighting in order to create the desired effect they are after. The two main types are artificial and natural light, they are called transmitted, reflective, soft, and hard light.
|
Wide Depth of Field
Everything in the picture is in focus and not blurred in the background and doesn't have one focal point.
|
Shallow Depth of Field
Their is only one thing is in focus, and the background is out of focus.

Poster/Cover Project
Essential Questions:
1.) What makes for a good book cover?
It has to have some very important qualities, like a theme that doesn't give away the actual story. You should have also established a 'brand' so that it's a way for the reader to know that this book or play has a theme and is part of a series. Also the quality of your work is what could also make the viewer want to or not want to read that book or play. The way that you use your space is also very critical because if you don't have it spaced in away that makes sense it makes the reader confused and not want to look at the book. It is very essential for you to know all of the requirements for making a successful.
2.) How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication?
Art is used as a vehicle for communication because, everyone can interpret that piece of art in a different way. If one see's a tadpole, the other could see a catfish, it all depends on how they look at it personally there is no wrong or right answer with art. Paintings are really good ways to protest or show emotions that normally you could not explain. There are many different styles of how artists portray their art and so there are different ways that the artist wants the artist to feel when they see their work. Art is a very good way to be able to communicate with everyone because as long as they have eye sight they all have an opinion.
3.)To what extent does a work of art depend on the viewer's point of view?
It depends on the style that the viewer favors, and if you have a complete opposite style, then the viewer will not like your work. If people do like your work and they technique that you have, then you might have a supporter for your style. If you have a style that a majority like then you could become famous. There will always be people who will not favor your work and so you would have to be able to take criticism well. No matter if you do or do not have supporters, you should always make your work your own.

'How to' Tutorials in Photoshop |
This was a project that we had to do when we were done with our Teacher Creature/Animal Project, and I decided to do this tutorial because I really liked the way it looked and it was really easy once you got the hang of it.
|
Teacher Creature/Animal Project |
This was our second assignment, and at first it was very hard because I was still new to Photoshop. Once I was about halfway into the project, I knew what I was doing and I wasn't as confused as I was when we first started this project.
|
Name Project in Photoshop |
This was my first real project in Digital Art, and the assignment was to go and find objects that could represent our names. We were given time to find the letters in our names, and then we had to save the pictures onto our computers. Then we used those pictures in Photoshop and made our names.
